Completed Redesign

5 11 2009

I’ve finished my redesigned book cover and designed a promotional poster to accompany it.

First of all is my book cover. I went for a simple design, and using a stock photograph from SXC.HU I ended up with this.

BookCoverSecond is my promotional poster, I focused more on the typography for this to make it eye catching.

Book Cover Redesign

Our latest assignment is to redesign the cover of a book that is over 100 years old. I decicded to try “The Stange case of Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde.”

It’s hard to decide on what exactly to do. There are lots of possible ways to redesign the cover.

I finished my Jay Z redesign, I eventually made it on photoshop CS2.

I used the Dada style of typography, with randomly arranged words in different colours.

Dadaism Vs. Jay Z

29 09 2009

I decided to redesign my chosen advert in the style of dada. Dada are the inventors of lots of different styles, ranging from Photomontage to the readymade style.

I’ve decided to redesign an advert for Jay Z’s latest album, “The Blueprint 3.” I’m going to make a montage of different pictures relating to music, rap and pop culture.

The album cover is very well designed. All of the instruments on the cover show that a lot has gone into this album, and there is something for everyone. Overlaying the albums logo (the three lines) makes it seem ever more like all of the instruments are going into the album.

Implicit/Explicit advertising.

Explicit.

Just do it!

Just do it!

This advert from nike is as explicit as it gets. Their simple logo emblazoned onto the slum wall. This shows that they’re a global company, which everyone recognizes.

Implicit.

Audi S8 AD.

Audi S8 AD.

This advert from audi seems simple enough, but when you notice that the headlights are actually behind the car, you can see that Audi are exaggerating the speed of their new model.

Both adverts do their job, just in different ways.
